Tassie Trip January 2018: Tahune Air walk & Hartz Mountains

Tahune Air Walk & Hartz Mountains

It was lovely that Jess was able to join us for another weekend of fun. She drove down from Hobart again on Saturday morning and we left early for the Tahune Air Walk. To get there we had to drive through Huonville and Geeveston and of course had to stop off along the way to replenish our stocks of beautiful juicy cherries.

We arrived early and sat on the deck with coffees to plan our walk. It was gorgeous looking out over the beautiful Huon River. There were a couple of different tracks to take, and since none of them were particularly long we did them all!

The views from up in the tree tops were spectacular. At one point we walked out on the platform suspended out over the river. It was pretty bouncy! The bridges across the river were also suspension walking bridges and the small children we saw crossing had fun jumping up and down to make the bridge wobble. We had our packed lunch on the deck overlooking the river before heading further up the Hartz Mountain to some more walking tracks.

We did a short walk to a lookout and then Jan and Barb rested at the chalet rest area while the others went off for a longer hike. Everyone was pretty tired by now and it was quite a long drive on dirt track to regain the road back to Geeveston.
