Kings Creek walk
We sadly left Uluru in the morning after a great visit here, but were also excited to be visiting Kings Canyon which we'd heard was possibly even better! We travelled back along the Larapinta Highway, stopping in at Curtin Springs again to fuel up. The price here was a bit better than the very steep prices at Yulara Campground.
We decide to press on and stopped halfway to King's Canyon at a nice roadside stop for morning tea. It was really lovely here with a shaded picnic table and trees full of gorgeous birdlife. The only thing lacking was toilets. The boys disappeared over the sand dunes. The girls hung on.
We arrived in good time at Kings Canyon and were able to get three sites side by side again. John is getting much better at backing the van in. We are pretty pleased with ourselves. The campsite here is lovely, with good toilet blocks near to where we are. Also good laundry facilities. So we girls quickly put a load of wash through before having a bite of lunch.
Afterwards we all headed back to Kings creek to do a short walk in the afternoon. It was quite an easy walk with lovely scenery.
We got back to the campsite in plenty of time to go and join the rest of our fellow campers at the sunset viewing spot. They even served (rather pricey) drinks for sun-downers here.
The sunset was pretty good over the distant ranges it has to be said. When we were back at camp John left the door of our car open whilst he was getting some things out to bring into the van. Our near neighbour called out to him "Hey mate...did you know there's a dingo getting into your car?" Nope. We shooed him away....but it was a good lesson to learn not to leave doors open of our rubbish out as there were a lot of dingos roaming through the campsite.
