Kata Tjuta (The Olgas)
Another big day of walking and sightseeing today. We again arose early to drive out to Kata Tjuta (some 50km from the campground) to walk at the Olgas. We started out at the beginning of the "valley of the Winds " walk and Steve strode off determined to do the whole circuit (taking all the water with him!) leaving Karen to do a slower walk with the rest of us up to a viewing point.
It was a fairly taxing walk in the heat, but also very lovely looking at all the wildflowers along the way. The viewing place had pretty spectacular views when we finally got there. It was also indeed windy and cool as the name implied. We rested a while at the top and shared our water before heading back to the waiting area at the start of the walk.
The rest of us had a bite to eat and some more fluids while we waited for Steve to return from his long hike. After an hour when there was still no sign of him. Barb and John drove back to camp with Ian and Kathy while Karen waited for Steve to return. She was in a nice comfy area in the shade with water and fruit and lots of people passing by, and as it turned out he was only another fifteen minutes returning after we left so he decided to also do another walk as well.
After having a good rest when we got back. Barb and John decide to go back to the Cultural Centre at Uluru to find Rain, the lad who had kindly helped Barb yesterday. We also wanted to stock up on more ointment as it had been so effective and properly thank him for his care and concern.
