A quiet day in Great Chesterford
We are just about touristed out after a very hectic schedule of sightseeing, so it was good to slow down a bit today and relax.
John has been sneezing like crazy and his eyes are itchy and watery so either it's allergies or a cold coming on.
Susan took Barb out with her to her regular craft morning at the Community centre in Great Chesterford. A group of women meet to enjoy friendship and do some handiwork of their own choice. There is a mixture of ages of the ladies who attend. Some are young with babies or young children, but most are over fifty. They all get along well and share expertise and ideas.

Barb met several of Susan's friends from this group and went around talking to the other ladies about the projects they were doing. Some were doing cross-stitch, some were knitting, some were doing lacework, others were handstictching quiltwork and the young ones were even making bracelets out of small rubber bands or tapestry thread.

Everyone seemed content chatting together easily and sampling the lovely cakes baked by one of the young women and nibbling on a fresh fruit platter. It was a lovely way to spend the morning.
In the afternoon we went into Saffron Walden to go to Tesco to pick up some supplies. We walked around the town for a while then relaxed on the village green for a while. Saffron Walden even has a castle. Its from Norman times and is pretty much in ruins, but clearly castle-like.

We also have discovered that John is due to fly out on Sunday 15th not Friday the 13th as we had thought. Lucky we checked the tickets. So we've extended our car hir until then. Phew.
We spent the rest of the afternoon in Susan't back garden sitting in the warm sunshine reading and drinking cups of tea. Aaaaah!
