Broome....Yay! Jess arrives to join us!
We booked into the Cable Beach Caravan Park in Broome for a few nights as Jess was flying in on Sunday afternoon to join us for 12 days. It's a very nice shady caravan park with great amenities including a wonderful swimming pool complete with waterfall. It was also jam-packed and very expensive being the busiest weekend of the Broome season. Never mind...at least we got a spot and we were able to erect a tent for Jess on our site although it was Very close to our neighbours, a young couple with two young boys aged 4 and 6.Barb was finally able to do a massive load of washing and we hung lights and balloons and baked a chocolate cake in the Weber ready to celebrate a late Birthday with Jess.
Needless to say we arrived at the airport very early to collect Jess. The "Arrivals hall was completely deserted when we got there. Nowhere to sit down and wait either. We went to the "Departures" lounge in a separate building next door where we had to go through security but at least there was somewhere to have a coffee and wait.
Jess arrived looking very elegant in her black suit and coat. A bit to warm in the Broome heat. We took her back to the campsite where we had cold drinks and sang "Happy Birthday". We must've been a bit too noisy because Master Six next door came over to tell us to "Keep it down...you're too noisy". His Dad was mortified when he realised! We later heard Master six admonishing his four year old brother for "acting like a child".
Barb and Jess went to check out the pool. It was a hot afternoon. The water was still a little chilly when you first got in, but very refreshing. There were heaps of people lounging around on the wooden deck recliners and swimming. A popular spot!
For our first evening with Jess in Broome we went down to Cable beach armed with a towel to sit on to watch the sunset and drink wine and eat dip. Jess and Barb also had a bit of a splash in the Indian Ocean. It was a magical evening.
