Middlezoy

Rest and recovery at home in Middlezoy

Phew! It's been an exhausting holiday! Susan and I were on the go every day in Cornwall, and when we made it back to Geoffrey's place in Middlezoy (Somerset) we tacitly agreed it was time to slow down and have a well-earned break from the hectic round of sightseeing.

We had mountains of washing and ironing to do anyway while the weather was fine and we had our craftwork with us as well as books and puzzles and movies to watch.

Aaah! That feels better.

We did venture out to a lovely little pub in a nearby village called North Curry that serves great meals and allows the dogs into the front bar area that has a flagstoned floor.
The pub is called "The Bird in Hand" and is very quaint with its' exposed ceiling beams and polished wood bar. The dogs loved it too. Daisy made friends with the man sitting at the table behind us and soon had her head in his lap gazing up lovingly. The hussy!

We all ordered different roast meals and a starter of fried camembert with cranberry sauce or goats cheese and mushroom. I was surprised to see the size of the yorkshire pudding on top of my roast beef. It was enormous! All tasted good, but there was so much food we brought home a lot of leftovers in a doggy bag for the dogs to enjoy later. They are very well trained and don't beg for food at the table.

We entertained ourselves in the evening by watching Dolly Parton at the Glastonbury Festival which was going on nearby. We were in the comfort of home not actually in the mud and crowds of Glastonbury I might add.

My bags are packed now and I feel ready to head off to London tomorrow where I'll be staying overnight in an airport hotel before flying to New York for Zach and Sarah's wedding.
