Lap Around Australia: Chapman Valley

Chapman Valley Lavender Farm, Copperhead Road Distillery

One of the brochures pressed upon us by the good ladies of the Information Centre was for Chapman Valley. It looked delightful, even just to have a drive through this very scenic green valley. It reminded us a bit of home.

Driving towards Nanson on the Chapman Valley Road (dodging the odd kangaroo along the way) we came upon  Lavender Valley Farm. This place also has a function venue for local weddings and a lovely cafĂ©, so it was a no-brainer to call in here for a look around.

The gardens were lovely! The ones surrounding the building had lots of flowering natives. Further down from the house was the lavender fields which had a number of different varieties and variations of colour growing. We enjoyed a very pleasant morning tea with this glorious view before us.

Then we wandered over to another building on the same property which housed a distillery The man who was behind the counter was the distiller himself. Very knowledgeable and interesting to talk to. We ended up sampling a number of his products an came away with a three-pack of miniatures.

We drove on towards Nanson, stopping in at the  Chapman Valley Historical Society Museum precinct. Nearby is the old and decrepit railway bridge and of course we had to have a look at the Church of Our Lady of Fatima ( another of Monsignor Hawes' works)
