Frolics on Gog Magog Hill
It was a quiet morning hanging out in Great Chesterford at Susan's place today.Susan had a gym appointment and a chiropodist visit. Geoffrey is still recovering from surgery and has barely appeared from his bedroom. John has been trying to set up internet banking with his newly issued access code (and it's proving surprisingly difficult) Barb was busy doing this blog and mastering the Times daily cryptic crossword (difficult but mastered in the end with a bit of help from John).

By midday the dogs were restless and wondering why the heck they hadn't been walked yet. So Susan, John and Barb bundled them into the car and tootled off to Gog Magog Hill for a romp in the fields and a pleasant woodland walk (at least the dogs romped and we walked)
The views of Cambridge from the top of the hill are amazing! The surrounding countryside is dotted with farms and fields and occasional small villages. This place was ideal to walk the dogs as it has a really large off-leash area for them to run and play. The weather was wonderful too. Blue skies with fluffy cumulus clouds and warm in the sunshine without being too hot. Barb almost had to take her jumper off!

After the dogs had walked and played enough (Daisy had to keep stopping for a rest) we then went on to Gog Farm where we had lunch sitting under the trees in the dappled sunshine.
The food at the café was really lovely and fresh, made with local produce. We wandered through their deli, fruit shop and butchery after we'd eaten and came away with some delicious food to have at home as well.

John spent some time in the evening purchasing online one month passes for us for both English Heritage and National Trust sites. We'll put those to good use visiting Stately homes and gardens this trip.
Barb has booked us into accommodation just outside of York for next Wednesday to Saturday before we meet Susan and Geoffrey for a week in a cottage at Danby in the Yorkshire moors.
