Day 29 Resting up in Mt Isa

Day 29 Resting up in Mt Isa

Barb is feeling a little sore and sorry after her "operation" at Mt Isa hospital Emergency. A quiet day is in order. Thankfully we did most of the touristy things on our way through town earlier in the month, so we don't feel like we're missing out.

Things like washing clothes and drying out wet tent and tarps seem more pressing anyway. We are very grateful that most campsites seem to provide quite decent washing facilities. Sometimes even driers! If you're really lucky there's even an iron and ironing board. Mt Isa's Discovery park boasts all these facilities and more! We're even pretty handily placed to the camp kitchen this time which makes washing up ever so much easier. The privations we have suffered....

Washing done. We headed into town. Barb had spotted a western outfitters (RM Williams etc) that she thought looked pretty interesting. Indeed it was. Who knew they had Jilleroo apparel in very bright colours these days? John spied a very large steel headed hammer in the shop which he thought would be very good for hammering in tent pegs into very hard earth. He's bent several of our pegs in his recent efforts and the rubber mallet is in no way up for the job.
Sadly the hammer at this shop was waaaay out of our price range, being a specialty hammer for horse-shoeing. John's face dropped. He has hammer-envy (much to the amusement of the very pretty little girl serving us)

We managed to pick up some cheap second hand books to keep us going entertainment wise. Just great for our lazy day.
