Grou and Akkrum
We had a very relaxed start to the day in our quiet mooring outside Sneek. Well, relaxed for we passengers; Nick and Pat thoroughly cleaned and polished their boats before we headed into Grou.
The town bells were chiming midday as we pulled into Grou, and we headed into the town once we'd tied up to find a cafe for lunch.

Grou is another pretty town, with some lovely antique shops as well as the usual shops to be found in a medium sized town. We wandered around them, spending some time in the supermarket with Pam selecting an apple pie for dinner.
We finished our investigations and motored on towards Akkrum. This is where we'll be catching the train to Amsterdam tomorrow morning. It feels very sad to be leaving after enjoying such a wonderful magical holiday with family.

This task done, we went into the town to explore. This is where Pam and Pat and Susan and Geoffrey stayed when they came over last year to help Jan celebrate her birthday. We met Pam and Pat who had cycled into town after us, and sat on the deck of the hotel where they had stayed. It overlooks the canal and was very pleasantly appointed.

For our last night on the boats we all met after dinner for coffee and the apple pie we'd purchased earlier and followed it with a spirited game of Rummicub.
We'll miss this life. I can really see why the girls have both bought canal boats. If we had a win on lotto we would too (John: Wha? Huh? Oh yeah, right!).
Very enjoyable read guys. And you had lovely weather. Cheers Rog
